For a nomadic opera company like Odyssey, load in is like a homecoming. Or maybe a reunion.
For the better part of the year, when we are not in production, we are only a full time staff of 3, with the occasional freelancer (me!) But now, during the magic time when a fully staged production is coming together, we are suddenly 30 designers and production staff, and double that number singers and musicians. We are suddenly a community, with a home.
We moved in to the BU theatre yesterday. Started by hanging the light plot, and by the end of the day the floor was installed and the orchestra platforms set up. Today we’ll start decorating with scenery.
